Breaking Bad foi eleita a melhor série do século 21 pelo The New York Times. A produção, que foi exibida entre 2008 a 2013, lidera uma lista feita pelo jornal a partir dos votos de mais de 500 profissionais da indústria do entretenimento, entre atores, showrunners, executivos e outros especialistas.

Para chegar ao ranking, o jornal pediu aos participantes que escolhessem as 10 melhores séries lançadas desde 1º de janeiro de 2000. Entre os nomes consultados estão Elisabeth Moss, Bryan Cranston, Rose Byrne, Colman Domingo e Jason Bateman, além de showrunners como Damon Lindelof, Lena Dunham, Lena Waithe e Noah Hawley.

Além de Breaking Bad, outras aclamadas produções apareceram entre o top-10 da lista como The Wire (2º), Succession (4º), Game of Thrones (6º) e Atlanta (10º)
